Jinnah vs. Gandhi

Jinnah and Gandhi, both lawyers and have got British education. Being from different backgrounds with similar roots that trace back to the Gujarati trading community of Kathiawar.
A lot has been told in the book in a very interesting way and right from the beginning where Jinnah and Gandhi both go to meet Viceroy, Lord Linlithgow, who had invited them to discuss some matters.
The only problem with the book that I have is it doesn’t tell much about Jinnah and Gandhi. Whatever has been written in the book is based on the events that triggered the partition. The line in the prologue of the book which says “India was fortunate to inherit the best of Gandhi, Pakistan had to make to do with the worst of Jinnah” comes out to be true. Matthews also talks about the ideology of Gandhi behind formation of India and same goes for Jinnah.
Its been over 60 years that India and Pakistan has been born but still there are a lot of things that are unknown and one just can’t get enough of them. The more you read about these things, the more you want to dig in and find out more about those times and people involved. Jinnah Vs. Gandhi gives a fair idea about both the men and I must say that the cover of the book is definitely a well thought one as you can see. I liked reading it and I am sure if you have an iota of interest in any of these men, this book by Rodericks Matthews will not disappoint you.
